Information We Collect

CostTo.Build is a static website. Calculator inputs and calculations run in your browser. If you use My Project, project names, estimates, quotes, contractor labels, notes, warranties, and related planning data are stored in your browser's local storage on that device. CostTo.Build does not receive those calculator or project details.

Cookies and Analytics

In production, we use Google Analytics to understand site usage. Google may process device and browser information, approximate location, pages visited, referring URLs, and interaction events. Our calculator events can include the calculator identifier, selected state or region code, and actions such as saving an estimate. We do not intentionally send calculator input values, calculated amounts, project names, contractor labels, quotes, or notes to Analytics. Embedded calculators also load Analytics when used on another site.

Google Analytics is a third-party service governed by Google's own terms and privacy practices. Browser settings, content blockers, and consent controls available in your jurisdiction may also limit its cookies or requests.

Local Storage, Export, and Sharing

My Project data remains in local storage until you delete it, clear site data, use a browser profile that removes it, or the browser or device becomes unavailable. Anyone with access to the same browser profile may be able to view it. Workspace exports and share snapshots are JSON files that you choose to download or send; anyone who receives a copy may read the information inside it. Store and share those files as you would other project records.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Third-Party Advertising

CostTo.Build uses Google AdSense code for site verification and may use Google AdSense to display third-party advertising. When ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may process device and browser information, IP-derived location, pages visited, ad interactions, cookies, and similar storage to deliver, limit, and measure ads. Depending on your jurisdiction and consent choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

Where required, Google-provided consent controls may ask for your choices before relevant advertising storage or personalized ads are used. Browser settings and content blockers may also limit advertising cookies or requests. You can manage Google ad preferences at Google Ads Settings.

Affiliate Links

We do not currently use paid affiliate links. If that changes, qualifying links will be clearly disclosed and will not affect our calculator inputs, formulas, or results.

Data Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Local storage is not an encrypted vault, and exported JSON files are not encrypted. Avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information in project names, contractor labels, or notes, and use device access controls appropriate for your situation.

Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
